Why we started this site
Buying a new HVAC system is one of the biggest purchases most homeowners make, and it usually happens in a hurry, when something breaks. Most of the information online is either written by companies trying to sell you a unit or full of jargon. We wanted one place with clear answers, real price ranges, and honest pros and cons.
How we write our guides
- We cite our sources. Prices, efficiency figures, and incentive rules come from sources such as the U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR, the IRS, and industry data. Every guide lists its sources at the end.
- We keep content up to date. Costs and rebates change, so we review our guides regularly and show the date of the last update.
- We stay independent. Advertising and partner links help pay for the site, but they never decide what we recommend.
Who is behind the site
HVAC Plainly is run by Inka Museri. I’ve always been interested in energy efficiency and in how homes can use less energy without giving up comfort. I started this site to put clear, well-sourced answers about heating and cooling in one place, written for homeowners rather than for contractors.
Our guides are for general information and are not a substitute for an on-site assessment by a licensed HVAC professional.
